Island hopping was the US plan to defeat Japan by attacking islands in the Pacific that weren't as well defended and gradually move up. Containment keeps Communism under control. Manhatten Project was the building of the Atomic Bomb. Neutrality Acts were passed by Congress in 1935 that made it illegal for Americans to sell guns to any country at war. "Big Three" refers to FDR, Churchill and Stalin. Rationing is limiting goods during a time of war. Kristalnecht or night of broken glass was a night of anti-Jewish violence (broke the glass of all Jewish owned businesses). Appeasement is giving into demands - Britain and France gave into Hitler. Genocide is killing of one group (race) of people. Isolationism is when a country wants to worry about itself and not what other countries are doing. Totalitarism is when a country is run by a dictator like facism, nazism and communism and has total control of the government and economy. Mobilization referes to getting ready for war. Interment camps have people relocate from their own homes to a government controlled area so they can keep their eye on them.
